Prerna Sthal is a memorial at Yavatmal in remembrance of veteran freedom fighter and former Maharashtra Minister Shri Jawaharal Darda.

In early 2002, Shri Vijay Darda approached renowned architects Shri Uttam Jain & Shri Chirag Jain from Mumbai to create a Memorial in remembrance of his beloved father Shri Jawaharlal Darda. The brief was simple, defining three essential parameters: to leave the samadhi undisturbed; to create a space that future generations could connect with; and to provide a public space where over a thousand people could congregate annually to pay homage to a man who was a legend in his own time.

Shri Jawaharlal Amolakchand Darda (“Babuji”) was a freedom fighter, a staunch Gandhian and a torch-bearer of social transformation, who laid down the standards of modern and people-oriented journalism in Maharashtra. He was also a statesman par excellence who left an indelible impression on the society through his involvement in politics and governance.

Prerna Sthal today is a live memorial with host of activities being performed on a regular basis. Yoga and music sessions for the citizens, live concerts of world renowned musicians, lecture series by motivational speakers and tree plantation by prominent personalities are some of features of Prerna Sthal.
